Services

Our caseworker, pantries, food programs and support group serve 1844 households. Many of our people utilize more than one of our services throughout the year. Our work is only possible because of the community support we receive, through financial donations and volunteers like you!

 

HOME NEEDS / LIVING ASSISTANCE

Emergency Utility Assistance

When able, our outreach coordinator connects clients to New York State HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program), directing them to work with the our local district contact for program enrollment. 

We have limited funding to provide utility assistance toward paying overdue bills in order to avoid shut-off. We work with Penn Yan Municipal, NYSEG, and others, are are sometimes able to secure extensions or payback plans with the utility companies. These funds can also be used for heating oil and fire wood.

FOOD

Emergency Food Pantry
We have emergency food supplies (perishable and non-perishable) to hold people over to the next food distribution date or pay day. Fresh produce from local farmers in season. Perishables usually include: milk, eggs, American cheese slices, and hot dogs.

Grab N’ Go Lunches

Free hot and cold lunches ‘to go’ are provided every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30am – 1:00pm.

Keuka College Food Pantry
Emergency food is provided for Keuka College students who commute during the week.

Special Holiday Meal Box Distribution
Christmas dinners from the Salvation Army of Geneva to serve families in Yates County; Thanksgiving and Easter food boxes to help families round out their holiday meals (often complementing main course cuts of meat from the HOPE Food Pantry distribution).

Personal Needs

Back to School Bags
Gift bags filled with age appropriate personal care items are available, so all children look and feel their best to begin the school year.

Bereavement Peer Support Group
Those who have lost a loved one through death.

Outreach Coordinator
Listens and connects clients to other resources that may be beneficial. Does not provide rental or security deposit assistance but may have access to other resources that do. Contacts other businesses and agencies to coordinate assistance for clients.

Hats & Mittens Program
Local knitters make hats & mittens for distribution to be given away during the winter months for children in need at The Living Well Mission and Starshine in the Village in December.

Health Insurance

Finger Lakes Community Health and Wellcare (Fidelis Care) assist with answering health insurance questions and completing health insurance enrollment.

New Hope Cancer Care

Peer support group for those going through treatment for cancer, or those in remission. Also provides financial relief for care-related transportation, help with budgeting, and reckoning with grief.

Paul’s Place
A drop-in respite program for community members diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer’s and/or dementia to allow their caregivers time for errands, appointments, or just some rest. (Currently on hold in 2022.)
 

Prescription Co-pays
We can help with prescriptions copays if a client is unable to pay (We do not help with controlled substances.)

Emergency Personal Hygiene/Household Items Pantry
Toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, soap, laundry detergent, diapers, etc. Clients are limited to 10 items per month except diapers (which are 1 package/per child/month.
